Re-designing Simon Sanchez High School Library

Hello SSHS students! Happy New Year!
We have many exciting things set-up this new year. One of them it to create our dream library and share it with others. Using the Google Sketch-up, we will create a 3-dimensional floor plan of our dream library. First, we will have to measure the existing library and draw the existing layout of our library. We will do this per class. Then, individually, you will create your own design of your dream library. You are allowed to knock down walls, add a floor and add stairs but you will not be able to knock down walls for the existing rooms, just the main library. Don't forget to complete the design with all the furniture, shelves, wall and flooring designs. Make sure to save your work every time you work in the library Mac lab and delete them (you don't want others stealing your ideas). All your sketches are due on January 16th. Have fun!

Projects!!!!

Hello readers! Now is the time to share about your book in different media. This is where it counts a lot because this is your 2nd quarter project and it is something that will help promote the book that you just read. Choose from one of the options. Make sure to write the following.
Name, period, title and author of your book, your project choice.

Here are your choices for your project:

1.   From your novel, choose a chapter and convert it to a radio drama. Recorded version of the story--or scene from it--as a radio play. Include an announcer and sound effects.

2. Make a talking display of a book. Tape a dialogue or description about an event, scene, or character.

3. Do a dramatic reading (Reader's Theater) of a scene. Select the scene and ask friends to help read it dramatically.

4. Read a scene with special effects. Choose a particularly interesting passage and read it with a musical background or sound effects.

5. From your novel, choose a chapter and convert the chapter into a puppet show. Make simple puppets (stick puppets, finger puppets, paper bag puppets, and so on), and present the story or an exciting scene from it. Also applicable to shadow puppetry.

6. Prepare a television commercial about a book. Imagine a book is the basis for a mini-series on television. Prepare and give the television commercials that would make people watch for it. Commercial should not be less than 30 seconds but no more than 3 minutes.

Please post  what you feel about a particular event on your readings on pages 76- 90. I would expect you to talk about a significant event in your readings and you could either tell me how it makes you feel... perhaps angry, upset, happy or mad and support your feelings but giving personal examples.

Post your readings on pages 61-75 here. I'd like to hear more about How You Feel about the events in the book rather than just hearing about the summary of the book. Dig deep guys but make sure to use appropriate words to express what you truly feel about the book so far. Give examples so I'll know what you are referring to. Blog away!
