I think the dandelion stands for hope, for survival in Katniss' situation. After seeing Peeta Mellark, she saw the dandelion, carefully picked it and went home to Prim. Then they headed for the meadow to pick more dandelions. When they got home, they fed themselves with this flower when they were really hungry. Katniss just had to feed her and her sister, and figured that anything can be useful in any kind of situation. An item that would remind me of something similar to Katniss's dandelion would probably be earphones/headphones. Haha, I don't know. The first thing that comes to mind when I see earphones is Music. Music is everything and I strongly find hope in music.
It's interesting that your dandelion is a headphone. It's also interesting that the dandelion, no matter how wild it looks, may mean something more for others. It's just like headphones. To others it maybe just a headphone but for you, it's something more. Great post Julianna!
Honestly, I would agree with Julianna Rose on the representation of the dandelion. It gave Katniss the hope for a better future and to keep on living. An item that would remind me of something similar to Katniss's dandelion would be a painting. You may make some mistakes as you paint, but as you go on and make what you want happen in the canvas, it gives you the hope of it turning into something beautiful through your eyes and to keep on painting to achieve that beauty.
In my opinion, the dandelion symbolizes hope. It was a sign for Katniss that things will eventually get better in time. It was the first thing she saw when she turned away from Peeta after he gave her bread for her family. The dandelion helped her family from starvation and it gave her hope to find water when she was really thirsty. An item that symbolizes hope for me would be a sunrise. My reason for that is because every morning that I see the sun rising, I know for a fact that everything is going to okay. I am given another day of life and within that day I will be able to make the best of it.
Well my answer is pretty much the same as everyone's own. It symbolizes hope and how things will get better. Without hope in life there isn't any reason to continue with life. I'm not to sure what my item would be, kinda hard to think of something right on the spot
The dandelion symbolizes hope. It's a sign for katniss that things would get better even though your having a tough time. My item would be a basketball, because its an item the symbolizes what i love to do and gives my hope to improve on what things i need to do.It also gives me strength to do better no matter what the situation is. Thats my item.
I think my answer is the same. Because it showed her the sign. All i need in my life is my family. They make me feel really good. They make my feel like life is the best thing. And one more think Maryjane.
I think that the dandelion meant hope for Katniss. It showed her that she could get over whatever problem she was going through. The reason why is because after Peeta gave her bread, she saw the dandelion. My "dandelion" would be my pillow. This is because no matter what I go through, at the end of the day I could sleep on my pillow and know that there's going to be a new day tomorrow.
I agree that the dandelion symbolizes hope, and better times to come. She saw the dandelion right after Peeta gave her bread, and some people might call that coincidence, but I think everything happens for a reason. It's a sign that there's always a bright side to every bad situation. My "dandelion" would be my 3 year old niece. She's still so young and innocent, and when I have a bad day, I can just be around her, and she brings me back down to earth and remember that life isn't as complicated as it may seem. That there's always something to be happy about in a world of turmoil.
I also agree that the dandelion symbolizes hope. It shows that Katniss can overcome any obstacle or problem that she faces. It even gives her inspiration and motivation. My item that symbolizes hope for me is the Bible. The reason why because it gives me joy and happiness in my heart everyday. It really shows that God is here for us no matter what and he guides our steps every single day. He gives me motivation and hope.
I believe that the dandelion symbolizes that there is still hope for Katniss. Even in the midst of her terrible, dreary District 12, something so precious and good such as the dandelion is still there. This is a symbol for Katniss that no matter how tough and unbearable her life seems to get, there is always something good in it. My dandelion would be a baseball. No matter what is wrong in my life, it's all okay when I get on that baseball field. My mind is completely focused on playing the game and blocks everything else out.
The dandelion reminded Katniss that there was always a way for her. Like motivating her to not stop. To keep on going. The item that symbolizes hope for me is WATER. Without water the world would be a mess. Water refreshes me each day whenever i need it.
I hate to say this, but I agree with everyone else when they say they feel the dandelion symbolizes hope, as mentioned in the book. What symbolizes hope for me would be my mom. Whenever I'm down or I feel like giving up, I see or think of my mom and everything she's been through and it picks me right back up. She reminds me that all the problems we face in life are just a test, and that the only way we are going to pass is if we just keep pushing.
So... everyone says hope... Well I think dandelions are weak and puny. Yet they grow in some of the harshest conditions. Almost without water like in sidewalks and middle of roads. Its the flower that stands out and keep on giving until it dies. But when by them selves the succumb to dying fast, but together they stay strong. I think more of unity that hope from a dandelion. Especially since she did unite the district to rage war. Dandelion=Katniss Katniss=Unity BOOOYAAAAH!
My answer is the same everyone else. The dandelion to her was hope. My dandelion is not an item, but it would be music. Music is everything to me because I could relate to the lyrics and it's just something I gotta have in my, life.
Well my answer is pretty much the same as everyone's own. It symbolizes hope. My dandelion would be my teddy bear. There's something about my Teddy Bear that's impossible to explain. When I hold it in my arms, I get a feeling of love, comfort and security. It's almost supernatural. This bear was given to me from someone that i really love.
The dandelion for me is a sign of a good day. I say its a sign of a good day because whenever I see a dandelion I know it will be a good day , because for me it means everything will be alright and i'll get through with the day safe.
As for me, the dandelion stood for hope and courage. Katniss was in an unbearable situation, and she didn't quite give up easily. She perhaps thought that there are more tough times than what she is going through.
For me, a "dandelion" would always remind me a never ending rule that not everyone sees the same color; "yellow" is just a word that is used to describe a dandelion or anything else, but not everyone sees the same. Thus, everyone has their own view of "beauty", and I wouldn't deprive anyone of their pretty opinions.
my answer is the same as everyone.everyone has hope with in them.but you just got to believe in what you want.i wounder if they have dandelion in many colors.but if i were to pick i wound not pick a dandelion.not really a dandelion fan.
Well just like everyone's answer I believe it is also a sign of hope . Because if she didn't have any hope she probably won't survive . Because she won't have anything to look forward to , no reason . Something that's like her dandelion to me is probably time . It is not an item but you can't really tell what will happen next . The only thing we can all do is just wait and see what will happen next . ( After re-reading like 4 times this . . . totally doesn't make sense haha xD )

ReplyDeleteI like your "dandelion!" Isn't great that we have our own dandelion to look at to remind us about hope. Great post Clarissa!
DeleteThank you! I think it is great that each person has their own "dandelion" with a special hope to them. What would your "dandelion" be? :)
DeleteMy "dandelion" would be a rainbow. Every time there's gray sky, I look for the rainbow because I know that the sun is shinning behind the dark clouds.

Great analysis Nelson. I also like your "dandelion." No wonder you have such a great attitude on things because you always see the sunrise everyday!
