It's so cool to read about the catchy beginnings of your books. A book opens with a gangster beating up one of their rival gang leader. Another book starts with a girl getting electrocuted with an Espresso machine while on a tub and gains super-power to see the future. Someone reads a the beginning of his book about a child with Asperger's? What is Asperger's? Another beginning of a book is telling about a drug trade that has gone bad. Wow! It's exciting beginnings. It's great to read them all and I look forward to reading your books through your perspective. Happy reading!
The Outsiders
ReplyDeleteAs I read more into the book I got more descriptions of the characters. Ponyboy Curtis the youngest Curtis brother, 14 years old, gets good grades and runs track. He is the narrator. Sodapop Curtis the middle Curtis brother, 16 years old, a high school dropout who works at a gas station. Darrel "Darry" Curtis the oldest of the Curtis brothers, 20 years old, has been caring for his brothers since their parents died in a car crash. Dallas "Dally" Winston: The roughest of the Greasers, who lived on the streets of New York City for three years. Keith "Two-Bit" Mathews, A wise-cracking kleptomaniac. Steve Randle, Sodapop's best friend since grade school. Johnny Cade, Ponyboy's best friend, 16 years old, lives with his alcoholic and abusive mother and father.
As I last left of in the story Ponyboy and his friends Dally and Johnny meet Cherry Valance and Marcia at a drive-in movie theatre. Dally then tries to flirt with the two girls, but then cherry told him to get lost. Then Cherry asks Ponyboy if he’s gonna try to flirt to, but he nodes eye widely no. Cherry then asks him his name and he answers with Ponyboy Curtis. Cherry reacts by saying “it’s a quite original and sweet name.” Ponyboy realizes that Cherry is nothing like the Socs he has ever met before. They continue to chit – chat on and on. Then Dally ask Cherry anf her friend why aren’t you scared of us like the rest of the folks. She then said well you guys seem sweet and nice. That was a first to them hearing that from a socs cheerleader. After that Dally gave Ponyboy money to get Johnny a coke and Cherry tagged along with to the food stand. That’s As far as I got now.

From the last blog, I talked about how the 15 years old died with the espresso machine electrocuting her in the bathtub. Katelyn’s mom called out for the police and everyone gathered outside their house. Then that’s where the twin showed up. Hayley and Taylor Ryan. They lived a couple house from the Berkley’s. Their dad, Kevin Ryan, is an author and he is pretty much known around town and their mom, Valerie Ryan, is a pharmacist. Hayley is the smart one of the twin like the good one and Taylor is the whatever kind of kid.
ReplyDeleteEveryone was shocked with what happened to Katelyn. They didn’t know what happened to her, some say it’s an accident and some says that it’s a suicide cause of how weird and depressed the girl was acting. Taylor and Hayley was also one of those people that wonder what happened to her. They said they used to be really close to her in grade school and everything change when they got to high school with Katelyn ignoring everyone and her best friend Starla Larsen.
The Ryan’s got home and the girls went up to each of their room. They used to stay in one room, but their best friend, beth, likes to tease them to grow up and stop being with each other all the time. The twins always have a late night talk about everything and anything when they stay with each other in one room. Now, they still am, It’s just there is a wall that’s blocking them and have to talk through an outlet. They talked about how they believe Katelyn’s death wasn’t an accident. That there is a story behind how she died.
One night Hayley was in her room starring out the window to the ocean and she noticed something in the water and it says, “Look.” She freaked out and called to her sister, Taylor. Taylor came running to the room and Hayley pointed out what she saw. Both girls saw it then it suddenly faded away. They thought to themselves that Katelyn is in fact telling them something that they have to look for it to know what really happen.
In pages 16- 30 of The Great Gatsby, Daisy brought Nick out to their porch and told her about how she feels towards everything. Daisy told him that she doesn’t know him very well and that he didn’t even go to her wedding. He explained to her that he was in the war. She said that when she gave birth, Tom was not there. When she woke up, she asked the nurse if the baby was a boy or girl. When the nurse said the baby was a girl, Daisy began to weep. Tom and Daisy asked Nick if he could watch Jordan Baker. I think Jordan Baker is Miss Baker. He left their home and drove off. This book is quite confusing. That was the end of chapter one.
ReplyDeleteIn Chapter two, Nick goes to New York with Tom Buchanan to meet his mistress. They ride a train to a bunch of places then end up at a garage where they see, Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson asked Tom when he was going to sell him his car. He said that it was still being fixed. Then Mrs. Wilson came in and said a few words that I can’t remember at this moment. Apparently Mrs. Wilson is Tom’s mistress. They ride taxis to multiple places that I can’t recall but I remember Mrs. Wilson saying she wanted a Police Dog to a man that sells dogs. He took a dog out of a box and said it wasn’t exactly a police dog. It was an Airedale. Mrs. Wilson liked it. The guy said it was 10 dollars. Tom gave her money and said to buy 10 other dogs. The book is getting a little more interesting. No one has died or has been decapitated yet. The book is okay thus far.
Welcome back, well my book gets way more interesting. Well first of all let’s talk about Christopher’s personality and his background. Christopher is a home-school and shy person; you can probably say a “Church Boy”. Because within his entire life his been going to church and heads right back home. Those are the two most common places you may probably find him. You can also say that his only friends are the children at church.
ReplyDeleteSometimes he would go to the store that is probably two or four blocks down because most of their groceries get delivered. Oh yeah did I mention that his church is just down the block. So most likely his hasn’t been within five to ten blocks away from his house.
At first you’re wondering how in the heck did he get himself in rehab, the reason for that being is that he was addicted to weed and meth; mostly meth. One day as he was walking to home from church, he met this guy named Jack. Every since that moment Jack would climb up to Chris’s window and would talk. From that point I was thinking that probably Chris is bi.
One night as jack climb up, Jack wanted Chris to try something new, which was weed. From there on Chris was addicted to weed and then something new came along. Jack brought in Meth which was even stronger and from their on Chris has been addicted to it.

ReplyDeleteThese are the pages of "dope sick" by Walter Dean Myres, where I got hooked. He looked at the television and saw him self, hiding from the cops, lurking in the shadows and heading up the stairs in the abandoned building. It was as if they were surveillance footage of what just happened minutes ago; however, there were no cameras. He demanded the man to tell him how to get on the roof. The man says how about we just watch what happens if you do go on the roof. The man picks up the remote and fast forwards.
ReplyDeleteHe looked at the television and saw himself on the roof. there were cops surrounding the building and helicopters with spot lights on him. It was as if it was the future and what was going to happen. He points the gun at the man and ask how is he doing this. The man asks him a question. If you could go back and change something what would you change? He answered the day lil j shot that cop. The man picked up the remote and clicked.

ReplyDeleteContinuing from where we left off on the Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings. The first part was mainly about this boy Brady and his normal day day life, but soon changes when Mrs.DiAngelo and her son disappear in their kayak. His best friends T.J. and Digger don`t really like the DiAngelo,cause their the richest family in the town. Brady cousin Carl works as a paramedic and gives him rides in the ambulance on the way to school. One day while Brady was on the docks he sees Mrs.DiAngelo and her son Ben in the kayak. He knows them, because he used to babysit Ben for them and played LEGOs with him too. Soon later on that that day he finds out they missing. Basically the this part Brady saying that he saw Mrs.DiAngelo and Ben before they disappeared to his friends. He later on tells his dad what happen where later on in town they form a search part to go look for them.Brady tries to join the party, but the told him it was to dangerous and he had to wait. The search party leaves and later finds Mr.s DiAngelo, but not Ben. So Brady goes to the waters in a boat by himself and finds Carl barely alive near a floating log. He quickly performs the CPR when he finds his body. He quickly heads back to shore when he calls for help.
ReplyDeleteContinuing from where I left of the story "The Girl Death Left Behind". Finally in the story Beth agreed on inviting and seeing Terri for the summer. Though she still seems like she doesn't really want to spend 3 weeks with her in the same house. She also wants Terri's parents to have a time alone together from Terri because she thinks anybody would go crazy when Terri is around.
ReplyDeleteHer friend Teddy is really lonely now and getting jealous of Beth because her brother has a girlfriend now and he doesn't have time for Teddy to play basketball. He said to Beth "how lucky you are to have Terri spent time with you for 3 weeks". I'm guessing Teddy is going to be hanging out with Beth and Terri for summer.
Beth's parents are planning some activities for Beth and Terri for the summer so Beth wouldn't be complaining when she's Terri.

These pages I read about is when the girl's mom comes back from Italy too. She had to stay back because she had a case to attend to. She was some kind of lawyer or investigator. She was happy when she came back so the girls thought that her case went well. They asked her about the trip and she just smiled.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of trips me out about this book is whether its about some supernatural thing or they're just talking about it. Daisy was calling her boyfriend Ryan a werewolf. I didn't know if he was an actual werewolf or just talk about how his body looks like Jacobs body in twilight or something. Then the sisters were saying they were communicating through telekenesis which i thought they were showing hand signs or actually doing crazy stuff.
"Eragon"
ReplyDeleteThe book i am currently reading is about this 15 year old boy name Eragon who finds this strange blue stone. The stone was actually an egg that contained a dragon with special powers. The dragon in the egg chooses her rider whom they will share somewhat of a telepathic power and she chose Eragon. The dragon's name was Saphira. Together Eragon and Saphira will fight the evil dragon dragon rider Galbatorix and his army to bring peace to the land of Alagaesia .
this book is really interesting because i like how the Dragon and Its rider share powers with each other. They can communicate with each other through telepathy. Only the dragon rider knows what the dragon is saying. I also like how they trust each other like best friends. They would die for one another. this book just amazes me.

He rented a motel where he has this super tough neighbor that wants to beat him up. He Finally discovered his power to teleport. He wanted to know where he got it from. They never mentioned anything about his mom not sure if she died or if she left them. Then another incident happened while he was walking back home a man robbed him and beat him up in the alley. Then he came to the motel with bruises. He is pretty much a lonely child. He also then jumped back home to see the condition of his dad ,but he wasn't home, then he jumped back to the motel. He wants to search for other jumpers like him

ReplyDeleteThis book is about a perfect society, eliminating all the flaws that it has, including conflicts, pain and choices. Everybody's choices in the community are made for them. This book starts off with the main character Jonas. He is a eleven year old boy turning 12 in December, who has a regular family, who goes to a regular school, has regular friends and regular days like everybody else. But Jonas life changes as December approaches. Now this is were Jonas life gets a little twist. As he turns 12 in December, so does his other group mates. When they turn 12, they are given training to the new jobs that they will be in for the rest of their lives until they grow old. Jonas, didn't know what he was going to be until they called him up last to announce that he was chosen to be "The Receiver" of the community. His community hasn't had a new Receiver in 10 years. Ten years before Jonas they had a receiver, but failed to complete or take in all the training. This time the community has chosen Jonas and has explained to him that it was an honor to be The Receiver. As Jonas gets into his training, he learns a couple of things he didn't know was possible, and things he was not use to. His community has everything made out for the people. There was rules for everything in their community, but for once in Jonas life, he didn't have to follow certain rules. He didn't have to because it was apart of his training. He was allowed to lie to people, but wasn't allowed to explain his training to anybody else including his family. These were the things that Jonas could not believe he could do. As Jonas training passes on day by day, he learns that him and The Giver (the person training Jonas) are the only two people in the community who know the TRUTH about the community and the outside world and that there is a feeling called PAIN. Not pain from falling off a bike, but pain from getting shot or a leg cut off. There are more things that Jonas learns about his community, and he waits for those days to come.

ReplyDeleteAfter making sure that the strange man had left her house, she then showered and cleaned herself because she was filthy. She dressed up, took the car keys and disks and headed to their garage. Her dad told Alice to drive their red Corvette, without a license. Her dad doesn't usually make Alice drive his cars, especially his Corvette. So she was very careful into pulling off their condo. Alice held the steering wheel tight as she drive.
As she was driving, she was debating to either call his dad's good friend, or the police. She then drove straight up going to that place where they usually get their milkshakes.
"The house on Mango street"
ReplyDeletethe book that I'm reading is the house on mango street.its about a girl named Esperanza who's name means hope in Spanish. In page 16 she find's these two girls named Rachel, and Lucy who are looking for five dollars too buy a bike.So, Esperanza gave them five dollars but they had to share the bike with her. But,from pages 16-30 the Narrator talks about a lot of stuff like she talks about this lady who has a lot of kid's her name is Rosa Vargas, her friend Louie is cousin steals a car and drives them around and they don't know that it's a stolen car how the cops start to chase her cousin.but that's all i have to say about the book that I am reading.
(Lie 16-30) Well, everybody is telling their side of the story and what they think should happen. In this part Skylar is having a hard time thinking if she should go to the police station again and talk about what happened that night. But her best friend Lisa is telling her she doesn't have to. Lisa then goes home and wonders what's taking Skylar so long to get home. She then walks into her house and her parents are home. They start asking her if she knows what happened that night, but Lisa says she doesn't. It was Skylars fathers turn to tell his side of the story. All he knows is that she left the house to hang out with Jimmy and some other friends. He wanted to talk to Skylar, but she wasn't home yet and before he knew what he was doing, he fell asleep. Skylar then got home and she was waiting for Jimmy to call. To pass the time she started thinking of when they first met.
ReplyDeleteOn the next pages of 16 to 30. Brian Robeson is flying the plane. The pilot had suffered from a heart attack. Brian did not know what to do and did not how to fly the plane. The plane was on Auto pilot and he did not know what to do. The plane will soon run out of fuel and he had to land the plane in a good spot. He is aiming for the lake near the base of the l-shaped lake. He tried using emergency broadcasts and picked up a signal, but it was static with noise. The person asked his flight number and his location but did not know what to sat. He just said that his flight is from Hampton, New York to His father in Canada to the Canadian Oilfields to visit him in the summer. It was his First time all alone in flying in the plane. He Crashed landed in the lake and what a good land because the engine stopped. we will find out more of the story
ReplyDelete(True Believer) From pages 16 to 30, nothing really interesting happens, but La Vaughn's two best friends Myrtle and Annie having joined a group called "Cross Your Legs for Jesus". Myrtle and Annie are very dedicated to the group and are determined to recruit La Vaughn. La Vaughn realizes that her and her friends are kind of drifting apart, but La Vaughn isn't willing to sacrifice her beliefs for her friendship with them by joining the group.
ReplyDeleteLa Vaughn's childhood friend returns to the neighborhood and his name is Jody. La Vaughn starts to become really infatuated for Jody and she can't stop thinking about him. It's to the point that she writes his name all over her book and she squirms whenever she sees him. La Vaughn can't help but think about him all the time because he's very friendly and nice to her. The story then goes on to show Jody's mom and La Vaughn's mom being very close to each other and that they trust their kids together.
(Looking for Alaska) On page 16, Miles tries out smoking for the first time as the Colonel offers him a cigarette. While Miles wheezes and coughs like crazy over the first cigarette he's ever smoked, the Colonel talks to Miles about Culver Creek. He mentions Mr. Starnes aka "The Eagle", the dean of the students and describes his strict ways. For the next few pages, the Colonel and Miles just get to know each other more. Later that same night while Miles was asleep, he woke up to the Colonel shaking him, telling him to get up. So he got up and saw 3 shadowy figures. They then grabbed him out of the room, leading him to the beach. When they got to the beach, they duct taped Miles arms to his sides and his legs together. Then they pushed him into the water and fled away. Miles managed to get himself back to shore, after a while and back up to the dorm. He still had duct tape around him loose from the water. After he finished cleaning himself up, he interrogates the Colonel about why he would to that to him. The Colonel explains that it happens to everybody at Culver Creek, and that it also happened to him. "They throw you in the lake. You swim out. You walk home." Then Miles mentions the fact that they taped him. The Colonel got furious and said that that isn't supposed to be part of it and that they could've killed him. From then on, the Colonel grew mad towards those guys and wanted to get them back.
ReplyDeleteIn pages 16-30 of the book "Halo Graphic Novel", Lee Hammock and Simon Bisley wrote a story called "The Last Voyage of The Infinite Succor". This story was primarily to educate the fans about the real danger of Flood(Alien Zombies). That they're rapacious, intelligent, goal oriented life form with internal structure. Unlike the Covenants(less intelligent Aliens), these Floods don't just stand around waiting for the Chief to blast them out of existence.
ReplyDeleteLee Hammock is currently employed as a video game designer, but also works as a comic book, trading cards, role playing, and news letter writer. Simon Bisley was chosen as the artist because he is one of the best action storytellers in the comics industry.
So I realized that Charlie and the Glass Elevator was kind of below my reading level. I went to look for a new book and found Slaughter House-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
ReplyDeleteThe story starts off with Mr. Vonnegut talking about his own experience in WWII as a prisoner of war. He talks about how he has been meaning to write a book about his experience, but cant seem to remember much about it. He goes to his friend Bernhard V. Ohare for help. Him and Ohare go back to Dresden in 1967 in hope to get some ideas. On their way to Dresden, they make friends with their taxing driver and begin asking questions about communism. The book rewinds and in 1964 Vonnegut and his daughter go to Ohares house to try to remember some things about the war for Vonneguts book.

How this part of the book starts off is before the shooting . Valerie wakes up and is getting ready for school when her phone rings to find out it is from Nick . She hasn't heard from Nick for more than a couple of days . Nick was hanging out with his friend Jeremy . Jeremy wasn't a very good influence . He always made Nick skip school and do drugs . When Nick called Valerie she was scared that he was going to break up with her. So throughout the rest of the chapter it talks about people that she hated and that their names should go on the hate list .

ReplyDeletein page 16 to 30 nothing much happen it was just that Auden is been focusing in her studies and her collage. she was preparing her stuff that she need for Defriese and she tried to pick up a few shifts at her tutoring job at Huntsinger Test prep. one night she was reading a book about buddhism when she saw a green Mercedes coming down to their street and saw a very pretty blond girl wearing low slung jeans a red tank top a wedge sandals. going toward the their house the Girl saw Auden and she said hi it was TARA Auden older brother's girlfriend. Tara hand over a package from her brother it was a picture of Hollis standing in front of the TAj Mahal with a one of his lazy smiles in a crago short and a t shirt and a backpack over one shoulder.
